Did you know that Jyväskylä is a world leader in music and science? People travel from all over the world to Jyväskylä to learn from the researchers at the Centre of Excellence for Music, Mind, Body and Brain and the MUSICONNECT project. We would like to welcome members of our community to learn more about the world-leading and groundbreaking research on music and science taking place in their backyard. We will share information about our ongoing studies and research results with visitors from the Uptown Night (Yläkaupungin Yö) festival.

The Centre of Excellence in Music, Mind, Body and Brain (CoE MMBB) studies music as a multimodal human experience and as a versatile engine of change, throughout the life span and in health and disease. As a multidisciplinary research centre, it combines musicology, psychology, education, music therapy, computer science, and cognitive neuroscience. The CoE MMBB is a consortium between three research groups at the University of Jyväskylä and University of Helsinki. The MUSICONNECT project introduces music engagement as a ubiquitous daily resource to advance a critical capacity in the modern world: youth abilities connect with self and others.
